I piled it on. My own fault though.

As long as you make sure that you watch what you eat, you will be ok.

I still enjoy a sneaky ciggie when I am having a drink, but I can go weeks without even thinking about them. It was the smoking ban that did it for me - couldn't be bothered to stand outside in the rain.

Strangely enough I miss them sometimes when I'm on the phone - I always used to have a ciggie then, after a meal as well.

Can't afford to go back on them now even if I wanted to!

I still smoke when I drink (they just seem linked in my brain) - but I have given up alcohol for 12 months to ensure I lose the weight this year so maybe a good side effect will be that I will not be smoking either. :-)
When I was younger I did what I knew - now I know better I do better!

I love my cigarettes and just wish they were a lot cheaper. I don't buy into all the health rubbish and I think there is too much interference in our private lives. When the 'nannies' get involved they try and take over and control your lives.

In New York where the anti smoking started and the nannyism is at its worst they are trying to ban salt from restaurants!!! That is how far it can go and it will happen here too.

I have to say that the smoking ban in restaurants is a brilliant thing - as a non smoker I object to having my meal ruined by the people on the table next to me.

I do think they could have been more lenient with pubs though and perhaps had a non smoking and smoking bar.

As for the salt ban - how ridiculous, they'll ruin a lot of the food! I remember seeing a while ago that a council had made fish and chip shops have less holes in the salt shaker to prevent people from using too much salt. I'm sorry, but if I want to use the same amount of salt I would shake it until I had enough!

If you are able to quit then you'd have the allowance left over, I would've thought that was a bit enough incentive...

I like the non smoking ban in restaurants as well, but do agree that perhaps a seperate indoor area in pubs would be a good idea.

As to salt - the only things I use that for is for tomatoes. We don't cook with it, I don't put it on chips and haven't done for years.

However, if you choose to eat salt, then you should be allowed to.

You can't eat tomatoes without salt - I ladle it on, especially when eating the tinned variety!

eeeewwwww yukky. Get your tomatoes eaten fresh. I never go near the tinned ones, which are probably already full of salt.

I did think at first Jan meant potatoes and had got mixed up!?!

I would rather starve than eat a fresh tomato! I'll eat the tinned ones when we make a chilli, but I pick all the lumps out.

Revolting things!

No, I did mean tomatoes! Only fresh ones though. We only usually have tinned ones in things like spag bol. We use tinned ones all the time for cooking (well hubby does!)

I just think that fresh ones taste better with salt.

Don't put salt on spuds at all.
