FIrstly I would like to say thank you to everyone who has helped, advised and supported over the last 6 years. Yes 6 years, we entered our F&F IVA on the 2nd June 2016 and today marks the end of that journey.
As we move into the next phase of our financial life, I want to asked how I go about clearing up my credit file.
I have signed up to Check My File and it is a real eye opener. It shows several debts that were in the IVA defaulting nearly a year later, and some debts that were never in default showing still and from as long as 2012.
The IVA is naturally still showing. My questions are:
Will the IVA fall off on its own, or do I need to do something?
Should the debts that were in the IVA fall off or be removed as of today or can they stay on longer beyond the IVA?
What else can I do now to improve my position?
Many thanks again, everyone's journey is different and our reason for ending up in an IVA was pretty heartbreaking, so it is good to finally reach this day.
Will the IVA fall off on its own, or do I need to do something? As long as it was marked completed it should fall off on its own. But sometimes people need a prod.
Should the debts that were in the IVA fall off or be removed as of today or can they stay on longer beyond the IVA? Debts will remain on file for six years from the default date. Info in the link will tell you what you need to do.
What else can I do now to improve my position?Build up a modest credit history.
Organisations seem to have got lazier these days and need more chasing. I must admit that I did very little when I was clearing the files and it all happened pretty much automatically, apart from a little spat with the Insolvency Service minions themselves over timing.
Onward and Upward
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
