Told by DFD that if I don't sign PPI form I won't get my IVA certificate.

I am in the same position as batbarella and mumsy, with the same issues occurring with Debt Free Direct!! Made my last payment in november and 8 months on I am still awaiting a completiion certificate from them with VAT issue having been resolved so there should be no hold up whatsoever.. I enquired as to a timescale for getting it but was given the brush off and kept hanging on with no timescales for when one will be issued.. I hae been told by Dfd to inform EIF that no PPI was mis sold and theres nothing to pursue which i did which should end it all but then was told I must do a PPI review 8 months on after completing my last payment...ridiculous!! Theyre not getting good publicity at present and am sure new clients will think twice about going with them. I am also contemplating making a complaint against them as its happening far too often!!

I have never had PPI and I know it was not added to any of my accounts. I was adamant that I didn't want or need it.

I have had ppi on past credit, but was aware of all of it and always read the small print, we must just be one of the very few who wasn't ripped off by the banks [:)]
Hopefully DFD will resolve this soon and send me my cc.
But forcing people into falsly claiming ppi with the threat of witholding their cc is happening, and is clearly an issue that needs to be stopped, not just for me but for many others on this forum.
Maybe if people's queries weren't passed around to so many different staff in the organisations then issues wouldn't be lost, the breakdown in communications wouldn't happen and problems wouldn't arise so often. I think when you enter an IVA you should be assigned an IVA case manager (maybe not your supervisor as in my experience they NEVER get back to you, just pass your query on, but appreciate all IP's are different), then that case manager can act as the go-between for you and the numerous 'teams' dealing with your IVA, they will always know what's happening with your IVA and the history of it preventing any communication breakdowns and lost paperwork. ahhh in a perfect world 'eh?! [:)]

Seems they are more willing to talk to you and get things done quicker , so to speak, when you are entering into an IVa rather than at the end when they have received all their fees amounting to thousands and thousands of pounds and there is little more to be gained from the the client , apart from PPI of course , which they will hound you about. Not a nice world the IVA world.. Should go bankrupt and start afresh 4-5 years ago than go through this, but we were told its the best option for 'us' by iva companies, surprise surprise!!

an IVA was definitely the right way to go for me, and I do very much appreciate that DFD arranged it for me, it's just a shame that it's turned sour at the end like this. It's almost as if 'we can't get any more money from you, except maybe ppi, so we don't care now'! But I'm still hopeful that there's someone at DFD who'll realise I have no ppi claim worth hounding me for and close my IVA.

We can keep it bumped up for his attention.

OP it might be worth amending title to include Declan's name?
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I've already had a list of creditors who've previously charged us ppi from Equity in Finance, there were no surprises so I wasn't miss sold any of the ppi. This is the point I've been trying to make to DFD.

Also I emailed DFD and EiF on Friday explaining to them both that I was not miss sold ppi so will not make a claim, and sent the letter template that Gina.gu generously supplied on another thread saying basically that I promise not to ever make a ppi claim now or after the IVA is closed - they obviously never reply over the weekend so will hopefully get a reply tomorrow or Tuesday, and hopefully it'll be good news. Will let you know.

Hello everyone
I entered my IVA with DFD in January 2008. I put forward a F&F in December of last year and was informed of its acceptance around March of this year - I then heard absolutely nothing (which it must be said is not unusual for DFD. I emailed them a few days ago querying the non appearance of my Completion Certificate and have just had a VERY frustrating call from one of their representatives which has left me FURIOUS!! Apparently a great many completions are "on hold" due to the VAT issue (which I admit I knew nothing about as I've not been reading posts on here due to thinking all was done and dusted)and the fact I have not put in a PPI claim!!! I just cannot believe that DFD were not proactive in informing me of this; and that I had to "chase" them to establish exactly what is going on!! Not to mention the fact that they have had my F&F money for some months now! I was actually asked if I needed my Completion Certificate for a "particular reason"......?!!!! YES - I just want the whole thing tied up and finished - that's why I went for the F&F!! I asked to speak to my IP and was told this wasn't possible; someone in charge of "complaints" is going to contact me apparently....VERY unimpressed. I want to make an official complaint to the Ombudsman - could someone please tell me how I can go about that? Phew....! Rant over...... but seriously - just how unprofessional is this?!!

That's not very good Annie - DFD do seem to be having a few problems at the moment.

You need to exhaust their internal complaints procedure before going anywhere else.

Thanks Niobe. I've just spoken to Citizen's Advice and they have advised that I put my complaint in writing to DFD and send the letter via recorded delivery. They cited the "Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982" and that "reasonable care and skill" should be executed by any company providing a service - i.e. not informing me immediately there was a problem with VAT and/or PPI (which incidentally I don't feel I was mis-sold), whilst hanging on to my F&F funds is completely unacceptable. My F&F meeting was on the 17th February! I have had minimal contact with DFD during my IVA as the money just went out of my account each month with no problems; but on the few occasions I have had to deal with them directly, I've never been overly impressed. I certainly wouldn't recommend them to anyone considering going down the IVA path.

Hi Annie, yes you should really go down the internal complaints route first as the FOS won't even investigate your complaint until you've done that first.

DFD's complaints proceedures are -
*If after discussing any concerns with a staff member, you remain dissatisfied then you can make a formal complaint over the telephone or by writing to our Complaints Officer at:Fairclough House, Church Street, Adlington,Lancashire,PR7 4EX.

*If you remain dissatisfied, you can raise the matter with our Solicitor.

*Ultimately if you remain dissatisfied with our final response, you can contact either the Insolvency Practitioners’ regulators who are the Institute of Chartered Accountants or alternatively the Financial Services Ombudsman. The address for the Institute of Chartered Accountants is:
Professional Conduct Department
The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales
Metropolitan House
321 Avebury Boulevard
Milton Keynes
MK9 2FZ

or you can email the FOS on complaint.info@financial-ombudsman.org.uk
they will send you an email with a form attached, just complete the form and send back to them.

Hope this helps and you get it all sorted Annie.
