Hi there, I am on IVA since last year and I really need some advise as my IVA company is not helpful at all. I still got financial problems even if I've been told my life will change after IVA. Unfortunately it did not happened.

I found that my situation is going worst and worst. After debthelpline advise I've sent letter to my IVA company to look into my record again and review my payments as I can not afford to pay 372GBP every month. My debts are for around 30.000

Just today I've received phone call from IVA advisor and she was shouting to me what I want, etc. I've explained kindly that I would like to pay less, but I've been told that I shouldn't have mobile phone, internet etc. You know I really want to live like other people but it seems I can not even breath. Can you please tell me if I can change my IVA company and is it possible to pay less? I did not miss any payments since I've sign for that.

Absolute rubbish! Which firm are you with? A mobile phone is essential these days for personal security, and how do they expect you to manage without e-mail?

It is rarely possible for you to change IP's, but you can make a complaint to the senior partner or the IP's regulatory body if you feel that you are been treated unfairly.

I am with Beesley Company from Manchester, do you think it's possible to pay monthly less than 372 gbp - I have got around 30,000 debts. I am working and my husband is self-employed.

I think that you should submit a revised income and expenditure summary to the Supervisor showing them the amount you feel that you can pay to see what they say. If they refuse to consider a reduction in payments, they need to justify their reasoning behind that decision and you can then decide what to do from then on.

As Melanie says, and rightly so, mobiles and the internet are not the luxury items they used to be. Some ip's seem to be out of touch with realistic living expenses....

I have just started an IVA and I had no problem with the Internet (although the charge for that is in with my monthly direct debit for the home phone), my IP even emails us if he cannot contact us by phone. I had no problems with a mobile either. As Melanie says, we need it these days for security. I wouldn't feel safe without it.

Our OR allowed us £70 per month, 2 mobiles at £35. However, she didn't allow the phone package which included the b/band fee.

My internet is in with my direct debit to BT as it is BT Broadband and that payment has not altered for years, plus I had signed up to a new contract last November for 18 months. Only had one mobile though as hubbie doesn't use one (bit of a technophobe!)

Youre not allowed a loan or credit in an IVA. Its really that simple. (I do believe a card is allowed in some cases where one is having to stay in hotels though work, etc).

If you've got problems and unavoidable situations TALK WITH YOUR IP.

CUT THAT CARD UP.

Hi
An IVA is a two way agreement.Your creditors will write off a large proportion of your debt in return for five years of payments equal to your disposible income.Part of the agreement is that you do not take any further credit and that you pay any surplus income into your IVA.
Do you need to move house ?

You could be in breach of your IVA and they can fail you !

I am surprised that you were actually offered a credit card as your rating would have been the pits.

Same for hubby taking a loan - is it a joint IVA ?
