The way I'm looking at it now is I haven't got a lot of money, but the little I have is mine.
I have told my friends and family about the IVA and they have been really understanding. I felt I had to tell them as they would wonder why I kept running out of money, and they know I wouldn't have the willpower to stop spending without a good reason!
I have found it's quite liberating to use cash rather than a card - nobody knows where I've been apart from the bank to get the money out!!! I also feel as if things are actually mine as I am handing over cash for them, rather than a piece of plastic!
I know the next five years won't be easy for any of us, but we have all done the right thing and there is definitely light at the end of the tunnel. I know that if I hadn't gone down the IVA road I would be getting deeper and deeper in debt.

It is covered by this:

5.23(1) (Three-quarters majority) Subject as follows, at the creditors’ meeting for any resolution to pass
approving any proposal or modifications there must be a majority in excess of three-quarters in value of the
creditors present in person or by proxy and voting on the resolution.

Hi Dominic
Sounds amazing that only one creditor voted out of six !!!It,s good news for you though.
I wonder why the others never voted ?
Has anyone got any idea why a creditor would not bother ?

Yeah i find it strange as well. I know for a fact that 6 out of the 8 had voted yes by proxy..my IP told me that at 10am on friday...that's when i knew i had got it...the actual meeting was at 3.30..for all I know the other 2 may have voted friday afternoon. Do you get to see who exactely voted and who didn't when you get the final paperwork through? The 2 that hadn't voted at 10am were Barclay Card (debt approx £800) and the dreaded MBNA (debt approx £7K) which surprised me...i thought MBNA would have been first in the queue with the amount of calls they made to me.

yes you get a copy of the chairmans report setting out what transpired and who attended and voted or sent a proxy.
