My uncle wants to give me £25,000

I am in a joint IVA with my wife who altogether we both owe £11,000

What is the best way around this? Obviously i want to make a F+F offer against the IVA but what do i do? I can't just go and pay £25,000 into our account then ring them up and offer a F+F offer, they are gonna wanna know where the money has come from eh? Am i best speaking to my uncle to say could he offer the F+F offer and say he's willing to offer £11,000 then once the IVA is sorted he pays the remaining £14,000 into my account?

Help please. Am over the moon im being given the £25,000 but im worried the creditors would want to take it all.

I take it the £11k is the balance of remaining payments, not the original debt total.

I would say to follow your suggestion. Get Unc to offer a f&f. to be used only as such and, for now, forget the rest of the gift.

When you are well clear and back on track he can reconsider giving you more, if he still wants to -- but, of course, that is entirely up to him in the fullness of time.

Yes, I am sure that, if he thought the money was going into the IVA he would prefer to keep it !

Its best if you simply explain that, for xxxx reasons you want to end the IVA early and that your uncle has generously offered £xx in full and final. It would be better if he held on to the money and, when the offer is accepted, paid it direct to the IP. Make sure that you make it clear that these monies are for the purposes of a f&f, and, if not accepted your uncle would be retaining the money and it would not otherwise be available to the creditors.

Again I feel we have missing posts?? Not correct forum etiquette.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I was just about to ask the same question - there are a number of threads that appear to have missing posts....makes it very difficult to respond

From memory, the posts that Mitch has removed were basically "thank yous" and "yes I see" sort of comments. I have no idea why Mitch saw fit to remove them. Of course it could be a gremlin.

Hmmm -- some have definitely gone ... not only on this thread. I took a couple of Ox's duplicates out last night, but none on here ... methinks we have a bug.
