Who are swift financial solutions, are they any good and what connection do they have with Harrington Brooks? Can I just go to Harrington Brooks direct? Why are they asking for a fact finding payment? Is this necessary?

Hi Rebeccadgr19 and welcome to the forum :-)

I have just searched for Swift financial solutions and they seem to offer loans etc. If they are charging you a fee you may want to seek advice from a company that will not charge you for your 1st inital call.

None of the companies on IVA.co.uk will charge you for inital advice

I agree with Kelly. If this firm are not actually insolvency practitioners there is little they can do with the 'facts'. Go direct to an IP firm and pay nothing until your IVA is approved.

Hi -- Have a word with a few companies at www.iva.com. The advice is free and without obligation at this stage. You do not need to pay an introducer.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Are you actually in an IVA Rebecca, or merely thinking of proposing one to your creditors?

Hi guys,

I know this post is a little old but seems very relevant to the experience I have had, they greatly inflated my expenditure and adjusted my living circumstances to fit the claim, upon closer inspection of the documentation, they list the first payment of 501£ which just so happens to be the same amount as the IVA, but this is a finders fee....and will not pay anything off my IVA at all!

I have mailed them telling them I wish to use the "14 days right to cancel" and that I will not be paying them the £501 finders fee, I will of course be ringing them in the morning to check this has been done.

I would be extremely weary of this company, and fully read everything they send you or ask you to sign.

You are right to withdraw ... no one should be paying a fee like this. There are IVA companues out there that will not charge until the iva has been approved and then their fees are imcluded within the agreement. Don't be forced into something.

Amazing - they say also nothing about what they actually do on their web site.

Avoid like the plague.
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.

Some basic checks on the internet do not give me a great deal of confidence, and as the others have said, if an IVA is right for you then there is no need to make any payments other than those agreed between debtor and creditors at creditors meeting i.e. do not pay in advance.

Regards.

Maybe a bit strange here but the OP has 3 posts, the last one was last year which appears to suggest they were already in an IVA at that time.

Now this opening post seems to be suggesting they are just looking to enter an IVA????

Sometimes someone picks up on an old post and then brings it forward because it has relevance to what they want to say.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replies, I did indeed cancel successfully the following morning and also complained to the head of compliance.
Additionally I then decided to deal with my creditors myself and am pleased to report with a phone call to my 2 largest creditors (Lloyds and Barclaycard) that I was able to negotiate freezing interest and charges and reducing payments to almost 0 with both, so have in fact avoided the need to progress with an IVA at all.

Figured it was worth sharing with the group. ;-)
