As mentioned in other posts, I made my last payment on 1 June and was informed by PayPlan, (after e-mailing them as I’d heard nothing from them), that it would take up to 3 months to issue the completion certificate. The anniversary of my IVA was 13 June, so I made a note to wait until 13 September before contacting them if it hadn’t arrived by then. To be on the safe side, I waited for today’s post which has arrived but no CC. I will now e-mail them to see why it hasn’t arrived yet. Last month I received the usual annual report and it said in the report that my IVA was in the process of being closed down.
There should be no PPI or VAT issues with PayPlan as a Mass Variation arranged by them was agreed by my creditors that this wouldn’t hold up issuing the CC.
I will update this post when I get a response from PayPlan as it may be on its way - I’m ever the eternal optimist!
On reading many posts about people waiting ages for their CC, I think it’s a scandal that it can take so long as it prevents people from getting on with their lives. I don’t need, but would like to apply for, a credit card as when we go on holiday it makes things like hiring a car much easier. That’s not a big thing compared to people who want to get a mortgage etc but the principle is the same. Other IVA companies can do it within 2 to 3 months and I’m sure you know who I’m talking about in both respects.
I agree with Sensible 77 it seems scandalous that people have to wait so long for their CC. Surely there should be some sort of timescale. I know I have read on here that some people have waited years and that seems totally out of order and very unfair.
I'm in a similar position to Sensible 77 in that I made my last payment to Payplan on 3 June. The sixth year anniversary of my IVA will be on 29 September so I have a little more time to wait for that. Nevertheless, Payplan emailed me ages ago [in response to an enquiry] that my IVA could be completed 'as early as 3 September' provided there were 'no problems'. More recently, on 12 June, they told me that I would 'receive a completion certificate within the next 3 months should there be no delays'. Since then I have heard nothing; nor have I had my annual statement. So I'll wait until 29 September comes and follow Sensible's example. It is lousy to be kept in limbo, but then again, spare a thought for those who have been waiting months and in some cases years.
I forgot to add that on 19 August I was assured that my completion was 'being processed' and would be sent out to me 'shortly'.

Last monthly payment made 3 June 2013 after 6 long years. CC issued 21 August 2013, but, er, lost in the post. Finally got it 17 September.
The point is is that you are told 3 months and it takes longer with no issues such as PPI holding it up. If Melanie Giles company can do it, why can't others? I'm sure Brokebryn, like myself, is just stating not complaining. Just because other people are in a much worse situation than yourself, doesn't make your own situation OK.
No response to my e-mail but I usually get a response within 24 to 48 hours so if I've not heard from them by end of play tomorrow, I will ring them on Wednesday morning. I prefer e-mail to phoning as I then have a record of what's been said and ringing them is a right palaver. They are only open 9 to 5 weekdays and I need to call them from where I won't be disturbed at work.
Regardless of whether the completion certificate has been issued, your IP has to provide you with an annual report within two months of the final anniversary in the event that your case cannot be concluded at that time - so you ought to have received this by 13 September2013, Sensible, and this ought to have provided you with the reasons that are causing it to remain open.
On the basis of Sensible's and Mel's most recent posts above, I just called Payplan [took me an age to get thru] and enquired as to the state of my IVA as regards completion. I mentioned Mel's point about the annual statement being issued within two months of the final anniversary - in my case that latter date was 29 August. To my utter amazement I was told that my 'completion statement' had been sent out on 21 August; it was also sent to all the credit reference agencies. As of yet, however, I have received nothing. Payplan told me that my IVA had therefore been closed; but I have nothing to verify that state of affairs. A copy of the said 'statement' is to be forwarded. I seem to have been taken off the insolvency register, but Noddle still has me with a couple of defaults registered [they were wrongly dated and should be off by now] and an active IVA. It wasn't my case officer I spoke to but another member of the client support team. I have emailed my case officer to see if she can shed any light, but she is on annual leave until 23 Sept. Watch this space......

WOOP! A very nice guy called Jack at Payplan has just sent me via email my completion certificate and all accompanying papers! These had evidently been sent out on 21 August but I did not receive them - and that's before privatisation of the Royal Mail. Jesus, I can't believe it's over. Sensible 77 - I hope that you get the same or a similar result from your enquiries!

Melanie - I have received the usual annual report within the 2 months timescale that said my IVA was in the process of being closed down but nothing else. I've still not received a response to my e-mail to PayPlan so based on Brokebryn's good news I'm going to try to finish work a bit early and phone them as it's difficult whilst at work.
Brokebryn - that fantastic news. I hope I get the same result when I call them.
Good luck with your call Sensible77 - fingers crossed.

Tina - thanks for the support. However, the phone call was a waste of time. I was told that they are just waiting to hear from one creditor before they can issue the CC. I asked who the creditor was but and was told that "the system" didn't say but that the creditor wasn't being awkward, just slow. I also asked about a time scale and again they couldn't say. The person I spoke to was polite but couldn't provide any direct information. I said that I would contact them every few days until I receive the CC. I think the situation is ridiculous but I'm at their mercy - or so it seems.
