Co-Op will let you have a cashminder account.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

I had a nightmare when I opened a Co-op account prior to the start of my IVA - I was lied to at every turn and it put me off ever having any dealings with them again.

Instead I opened a basic Barclays account and have been really pleased - excellent online facilities, you can open additional savings accounts instantly online, lots of optional features and you can even get your debit card personalised with a photo printed onto it!

I'm another vote for the co op. Great little simple account although I've moved to nationwide now that I'm squeaky clean credit file wise.

Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.

The Barclays account is excellent and they will provide banking facilities to undischarged bankrupts as well as those in IVAs.

I opened a Smile account (Coop Online) before starting my IVA, which had a £1000 overdraft limit on it.
When entering the IVA all they did was reduce this limit to £500 to comply with the £500 credit limit allowed in my IVA, it has come in handy now and then in emergencies.

I was with Barclays but owed them in the IVA so had to open the new one but vowed never to go back to them anyway after they closed my wife's account (not in IVA or financially connected) when se had not used it for two years. They did not tell her they were going to do it and was going to keep the £6 or so she had in it.

Won't the NatWest open you another account if you're happy with them?
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

That is interesting MG12. As a N Ireland firm we have a lot of clients here in addition to England and Wales so any other bank that can be used is a help.

I would recommend Barclays. I opened an account with them in the last year of my IVA, I had to open it in branch but to be honest the lady who dealt with me knew exactly what an IVA was and made no judgement on me because of it. You get a visa debit card and online and phone banking.
Last Payment made 04/12/14. Completion Certificate 25/7/15. IVA company GT. No Issues

I went to open an account at Santandair. As soon as I mentioned the dreaded "im in an IVA" the guy looked at me as if I was trying to rob the bank with a stocking over my face...He cut the conversations short and was then rude to me and I left the bank. Yorkshire bank were brilliant and I have been with them ever since.
IVA complete March 2014 after 6 years.
