Hi Fiona. I would suggest you have a word with a whole of market broker who is experienced in dealing with those of us who have been in an IVA.

We have two such experts on forum. If you click on the "ask a Question" link at the top left of the screen, then scroll down to the Experts details section, you are looking for Ryan and / or Shaun.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

We are currently applying for a new mortgage desl via Ryan and it was approved yesterday ...3.19% for a fixed 5 yr deal going to 3.99% after ...High Street lender too. Swapping our mortgage has allowed us to chop 5yrs off the term but keep it at the same monthly repayments .... we were on an extremely high interest rate just to get a foot on the ladder!

The trick is to get past the six year mark and ensure that all trace of IVA & defaults have gone from credit record, this will make things much more doable!
