Hi, My aunty's partner has an iVA. They have a joint dormant current account with an overdraft with natwest. This is their only financial connection. My aunty has the money to clear the overdraft and wants to close it. Her partner who has the IVA says she is not able to pay it off and has to wait for the IVA to finish. Is this the case or is she able to clear the overdraft and close the account? Thanks

She can clear the overdraft if she wishes and she then becomes a creditor in his IVA for half of the repaid debt. She should speak to his IP for confirmation as the old debt could be damaging to her credit file.
