We are in the process of having IVA documents drawn up in joint names. My wife has just been informed that she is to be awarded PIP (higher rate for care and mobility). They are also backdating payments to February, 2014. Would this benefit and back payment now have to be disclosed to the IP who is setting up the proposal even though my wife needs the extra payment for care.

Hi. I am not sure about the back payment, but, it it arrived before the IVA is set up I see no problem. PIP has to be declared as income, however most IPs (but not all) will balance this out in the expenses it is designed to cover.

Who are you working with ?
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
