We have had a joint IVA approved with specific condition that my wife seeks full time employment unless we can prove that full time employment is finacially detrimental. The creditors would not accept that we have four children, three of which are under 8. Any advice, guidance would be welcome
Just work up some figures using local childminder rates --- not forgetting that a 40 hour working week means at least 45 hours childminding. Pre and After School clubs are pretty expensive too -- if you can get a place. Show them that child minding will cost more than the income generated and the negative amount will be added to your expenses, thereby reducing the payment into the IVA.
Who is your IP ?
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
This is not uncommon and you just need to provide the evidence to your IP. If the children were a lot older it may be possible for your wife to find work but given their ages it is highly unlikely.
