I am trying to compose a board at work for my target of equality and diversity to advertise our ESOL courses, therefore I'm looking at having a few words translated to several other languages - I have English (I managed that one!), Spanish (son), German (daughter), Polish (friend), Russian (friend), Romanian (friend), now I'm stuck. Are any of you lovely forum members fluent in another language and could spare me ten minutes of your time to translate some words for me? Let me know and we can either do it on here or ask Admin to put us in contact off the forum. Thanks in advance for any help.

Not sure you'll want to ask them though Foggy? I'm only trying to score brownie points at work with my display, no prizes but ticks a box x

Lesley use a website called Babelfish (named from the transalator on hitchhikers guide to the galaxy original series)it transalates from one language to another and you could choose any language... mandarin, eskimo, and even bristolian lol.

I honestly don't trust it as we're a college so I have to make sure it's 100%, we don't actually teach languages apart from English at our campus but there's always a risk with the community I live in that any error would soon be noted and as a college we have to be so careful. Generally if my son or daughter sends me something written in Spanish or German I can use a translator to translate it and get the gist but when I use it to reply they often say it doesn't make sense!

The trick is use short simple sentences -- it can't handle tenses and the like.

Could you try your local council community services team to see if they could help? If there is a commonly used language, chances are someone on that team will know it.
