It's now well over a year since I made my final payment to DFD. After no end of promises, still no sign of a completion certificate.

The only thing that could be holding the process up is the PPI/EIF saga. I rang EIF to see how things were going and after a few standard security questions, a very helpful young lady informed me that all PPI investigations regarding my case were concluded last February.

WHAT!!!!!!

I'm fuming. Final proof that DFD are just dragging their feet.

Contact Evette Everest at DFD and see if she can shed any light on the hold up. Otherwise make a formal complaint.

I've got a question on this - once final payment is made can creditors still grab any windfalls that turn up between final payment and certificate of completion?

Yes, Timothy, they can and do.

Some, more enlightened, firms will absolve you from such responsibilities if there is a longer than usual delay due to PPI, however an increasing number will not.

Hi Broke n down - I really feel for you, a year is far too long to wait for your completion certificate even with PPi claims. I recently found this article from Oct 2014 which you might find interesting and helpful http://debtcamel.co.uk/iva-completion-certificate/
Good luck getting your certificate quickly.
IVA started Jan 2012
Last payment made June 2014 @100p
Completion certificate received Sept 2014
