Hi everyone.

I hope someone can help me. Hubby and I have IVAs. I was wondering, if one of us were to die, would the death benefit payment by the governament be taken (the £2000 payment) or can this be used for funeral costs?

Also, we both have work pensions so either would get a lump payment, this would have to be used first and foremost for paying off the mortgage (because neither of us if we loose the other, keep up the mortagage payment and yes, ignore insurance please), so would the iva of the person who died fail? Or can the surviving spouse just keep paying it till the end?

Hope someone can help. Thank you

Hi

If a person dies any creditor can make a claim against the state of the deceased person, the debt can't be the responsibility of the surviving partner unless it was a joint debt
