How do I retrieve money put into my old bank account that has been closed ?

I began an IVA in May 2014.
I have just found out that an old friend has put money twice in my old bank account, £200 in January and £300 last week, not knowing that the account was closed and was part of my IVA.
He now wants his money back! Advice please.

The bank should have either bounced it back when he did the transfers or will refund when asked.

Yes he needs to get in touch with the bank. Note that they may have left it in a suspense account and could take a little while to get it back to him.
