Hi,

I made the last payment into my IVA on January 2015. As the IVA was extended, we are well past the 6 years period for it remaining on our credit file which means when we receive our completion certificate in around two weeks time (according to our IVA provider) I have been informed I will need to wait around 30 days for this information to feed back to the credit reference agency.

My husband and I are wanting to move house and are keen to know what options may be available for a mortgage. We are hoping to obtain a mortgage of 220000 and will have a 10% deposit only. Do you think any lender would be interested in us? Our salaries have increased substantially since we started the IVA and financial we are in the best position we have ever been in but I am worried we will struggle to get a mortgage.

I would say it is possible but you should speak to someone who knows better such as Shaun Vickery from The Select Partnership or Ryan who post on here. Their details are in the experts section and I know Shaun has recently helped one of our clients who I believe may not even have had the full 10%. I hope it works out.

Hi Marhiggkey, great news that you are coming to the end of the long road - or should I say the beginning?! Your options may remain fairly limited but, everything being equal, it should be possible for you to obtain a mortgage at a relatively competitive rate. Of course, as always, it will depend on the rest of your circumstance, income etc.

Hi,
You would need to ensure all adverse entries are removed from the credit reports and you are removed from the Insolvency register before applying for a mortgage.
Once you are all clear then i am sure it would be possible subject to income and affordability assessment.
