Is there anything I can do to remove defaults ? IVA taken out 2009, settled 2 years early.

Hi
We took out an IVA in May 2009
We settled the IVA 2 years early with a full and final settlement
We have received the completion certificate
I have checked both our Experian files and we both have scores of 999 with Good credit scores
However, there are still some defaults on the files from when the IVA started
I understand you have to wait for the full six years until they fully come off, and there are ones coming off on an ongoing basis
i have a couple from Intelligent finance which are on the file which are dated 2011, even though the IVA was started in 2009, presumably as they didnt update their records straight away
We are looking to remortgage to release some equity but i have tried a couple of on line applications and been declined, presumably due to the credit file showing defaults
Anything i can do, as i am looking to raise the cash for home improvements

Any defaults recorded after the start date should be amended upon your request to the creditor. A letter outlining the start and end date of your IVA plus a copy of the completion certificate shoukd suffice to have it amended.

Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Hi Nick. Welcome to the forum. I've received your direct email and will respond to you this morning. As Luluj points out, you should be able to correct any errors to your credit file relating to any debt within your IVA. I'd discourage you from applying randomly to lenders however as this can potential limit your prospects. A specialist broker with experience in this field should be able to assist.
