Hi there, I had a phone call from guardian debt limited and they say I can swipe a lot of my debts and reduce my monthly payments with the debt being paid in 5 years (iva)
I'm wondering- what's the catch.

Credit history trashed pre and post IVA, 5-6 year commitment, living within a tight budget with no credit, increasing pressure to pay more etc.

It is not an easy option.
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.

An IVA is a legitimate way of solving your debt problems, but I would run a mile from a company that cold called, as well as one who pitches an IVA as a way of wiping out your debt and who hasn't done a full fact find to see what your circumstances are.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

Hi and welcome.

Not heard of them. The only 'catch' as such is that if you have equity in a house then it will be taken into account and your IVA could possibly be extended if you cannot remortgage.

How much is your debt?

Have a word with one or two other companies before making a decision.

Accounts are overdue so run a mile and do not pay them anything in advance.

Speak to CAB first if you want to go down this route.

Hi

An IVA may be suitable but only if you genuinely can't afford to make your minimum payments each month

Speak to several companies and explore all options
