Hi, I entered an IVA September 2010, and completed it 4 years 9 months (June 2015), i'm no longer on the Insolvency register. My first question is, when will my 6 years lapse will it be June 2017 or September?
My second question is, I desperately need to buy a house as i'm in the forces and want to come out after having 2 children, it's getting difficult leaving them whilst going away 6 months of the year. When can I look at getting a joint mortgage with my husband (excellent credit) and we have saved £40K, i'm also eligible for the Forces Help to Buy scheme. Would appreciate some guidnce.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

It is generally 6 years from date of acceptance for the credit files to begin repair. I'm not sure about the Help to Buy scheme but I'll keep this bumped up.

Generally it's a good idea to have those credit files squeaky clean in readiness for mortgage applications etc. I'll pop a couple of links on here that may help. All the best.

IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

September 2016 should see your records clear.

It might be worth speaking to Ryan or Shaun our forum mortgage experts who wll be better advised to offer guidance on your mortgage questions.

There contact details can be found under ask the experts section or the a-z of members

Hi Anna congratulations on completing your IVA.
It should come off your credit record in Sep 2016 but do consider having a look at your record and tidying it up.

Here's a link to a quick video I made on this, which you might find useful:

You can also get free credit checks with Noddle and Clearscore here:

As regards the mortgage I would like to think with your credit files cleaned up and the large deposit you should be able to do this.

The two mortgage experts on the forum are Shaun and Ryan so hopefully they can help you.
