Can I keep PPI to visit my daughter who is very ill ?

I have been contacted by the ombudsman about a ppi we have been fighting for 4 years. We are now on a iva 2 years. The amount is under 500 pounds and my daughter is very ill and lives in sheffield who I would like to visit. Can I keep the money

Sorry to hear this but you do need to take this up with your IP as to whether you can do this.

Sorry to hear if your daughters ill health. As it is under £500 there may be a outside chance with your IPs approval for you to keep all or some of this amount, particularly guven the circumstances. As we all know when your poorly you all tend to reach out to 'mum' so am sure your IP will be able to agree to something to make this happen.

Sometimes smaller PPI awards have been treated in a similar manner to windfalls in the past -- however, this is purely down to your IP.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

The PPI will normally be paid to the IP and it would need creditor approval to return it to you unless as Foggy says your IP deems it a windfall. Perhaps a payment break would be better as it could be sanctioned immediately and may not approval of creditors.
