Well I know I have mentioned my partenr is pregnant, but we had scan today and it TWINS, i still feel like i am a 1000 foot in the air.

For any one who as had kids, when you see that heart move, its the most amazing feel ever, in my case to hearts. Now that is something money cant buy.

I am over the moon.

How ever any one got ant advice with regards to been in an IVA? It would be most welcome.

Congratulations, your right, there are things in life that money can't buy and make your troubles melt away. We have two girls (3 years apart though) in the darkest of times they are my reason for carrying on. My advice is stock up on the sleep[:D]

Have a chat with your IP and explain that double trouble is on the way.

Honestly, kids will change the way you look at everything.

An IVA has to take account of changed circumstances and boy, yours are going to change!

You'll need to work out a revised I & E with your IP, taking in to account the increased costs that you are bound to incur. The reason for this exercise is to estimate the amount that you can afford to pay in to the IVA in the future.

If that amount can be accommodated in the existing IVA (with any modifications that you might have agreed to) then all well and good. If it can't then it may be necessary for you to propose a variation to the IVA with your creditors but the liklihood is that the creditors would be likely to expect you to stick to the commitments that you made at the start, even if it will take longer.Only your own IP will be able to advise you on this because they will know the detail of your proposal, who your creditors are and how you have been coping thus far.

My advice to you is to ensure that the revised I&E gives you a fair budget to pay the extra expenses. Don't be persuaded to agree to something that you know won't work because there would be nothing worse than bringing two children in to the world on an impossible budget.

Recent events will have brought home to you that there really is more to life than money and you shouldn't be a slave to it.You might want to seriously consider now why you wanted the IVA in the first plave and whether recent events have changed those priorities.

If you conclude that an IVA won't work for you then DMP or BKR are other options that you may wish to consider as an alternative. Much has been written on this board about both so you'll have more than enough reading material to keep you going.

As I said, however, first port of call is your IP to understand how they see your options, based on their knowledge of you IVA.

It would be worth while investigating what benefits you will be allowed when the twins arrive as these may offset much of the extra expense. You will be guaranteed to get Child Benefit and you also may be eligible for Tax Credits. Here is the link that will allow you to calculate what you will be eligiable for

Your first port of call should definitley be to you I.P to explain the change that is soon to come. Remember when listing your expenditure be as realistic as you can, an IVA is for a long period of time and wont be achievable if you are struggling.

Wow, congratulations James. I have twin girls who are now 8 and it is the most incredible thing! Even though I now have 2 younger children, I still cant help but get that "feeling" whenever I look at them!
