I do shop around and have had part worn tyres in the past but would go for a reasonably priced brand new ones now.

I've bought spares from a scrapyard but not tyres and I think I'd always go to a proper tyre dealer now.

I only ever contacted a scrap yard once and it was enough to put me off for life! The seats had gone in my car so I phoned the local scrap yard and was told that yes, they had 2 seats, but one of them had blood on it! Needless to say I declined!

Given that the only thing connecting your car to the road is 4 bits of rubber I would never ever get part worn tyres, you have no idea as to the history of the tyre whatsoever!

Couldn't agree more Paul, my car is one area I don't skimp on, new for me everytime, however I do shop around all my local tyre fitters before going to the nationals as they're usually cheaper.

Same here - I'd only use new tyres now even if they were budget ones!

Our scrapyards great-know loads of people who go there-I dont worry about using second-hand tyres as furthest I drive is half hour from home and never go on the motorway-rather jump on a train.
Just got a 4x4 and the tread on them will probably last me a few years theyre MASSIVE.
Been taken the mickey out of by a few garages round our way-replacing parts with supposedly new ones then finding out theyre second hand or re-conditioned!!!-so I cut out the middleman and go straight to the scrap-yard.[:D]
Would rather have good quality tyres from them than the cheapest ones-which is all I would be able to afford!!!

I'd worry too much if I had remolds or part worn tyres as I drive my car on the motorway. Generally it would be ok as I don't go far, but I'd be panicking on the motorway!

Unfortunately we do, on occasion, drive a bit further afield so I'd personally always go for new tyres. I would get spare parts from a scrapyard though.

I have driven on a motorway but it's not something I choose to do, think I can count on one hand how many times I've done it, I'm such a nervous driver, it's a fact none of you would want to be my passenger. x

I'm such a nervous driver I won't go on the motorway, I have done but only on the rare occasion, hubby has to drive and even then I'm a wreck!

I don't mind the motorway at all - used to have to drive on it all the while.

Just glad now that I can have a nice drive through a forest to work and the only thing I have to worry about are deer, badgers, rabbits and pheasants wandering across the road!

I usually let Dave drive, but I don't mind driving on the motorway. Now country roads are a different story - I hate even being a passenger and refuse point blank to drive!

You'd love where I drive Skip - the roads are nice and wide, lots of trees and no nasty bends!

Ooh I don't do motorways at all. Constantly find myself having little mini panic attacks! Infact I actually have no idea really how I managed to pass my test all those years ago!
