Hi there, I keep getting calls from a crowd of indians who can barely speak English trying to sell me one of your "programs", at best they're impolite and at worst downright rude. They don't have the right address, they don't realise I'm not actually in debt and even when told STILL try to get me to speak to one of their "specialist advisors".

It's a really low way of doing business.

Hi
Agreed.
This type of cold calling is not allowed and this is why it is based outside of the UK.
Please also be aware that it has nothing whatsoever to do with this site.

Hi,

I totally agree with you. Unfortunately as they are overseas call centres, it's quite legal for them to do it.

I think I would be just as impolite and rude back!

I've only just cottened on that he probably meant us!

We would never do anything like that - we are a forum for advice and support online.

Hi
I have had a few complaints over the last year or so giving the same details as Nobby. I think a company has been using our good name.

Andy people have got to be on their guard with companies like those - I had a letter from an outfit called Atlantic Solutions a box number address in Liverpool telling me that they can arrange loans and credit cards from oversaes banks for a hefty fee for people in IVAs! I reported them to Trading Standards for some people in IVAs might be tempted not realizing that credit is not allowed without permission from the IP

Andy, I think it is disgraceful that people will use our name - a lot of people may think it is genuine.

Funnily enough David, I can't find anything out about Atlantic Solutions! These sort of people should be shot as well!

I can't either - have searched everywhere - Trading Standards did tell me a firm in Truro operating under a similar name a few years ago was shut down. They also said that they are getting numerous complaints along similar lines from not only IVA people but also those in B/R. They have quite a data base on dubious firms but they can't touch overseas ones.

A samaritan colleague has just told me that Atlantic Solutions used to advertise in Exchange and Mart but were stopped after a time along with several others. He also told me that at times an "odd advert" appears in tthe Sunday Times(!!!) for similar services>

It shouldn't matter where you come from - unsolicited calls for anything should be illegal.

The only one I can find has an office in Oxford.

The thing is we can easily find out where these leads go, you press 5 - talk nonsense for a few minutes and find out where they transfer you. I did a lot of that last year, kept getting through to firm in Bury although I suspect the initial call was in India.
