Updating Credit File - Nationwide

Hi all

Wonder if anyone has had any experience with Nationwide failing to update the credit files.

I completed IVA in Dec 12 and promptly sent letters to creditors who had incorrect information listed with credit agencies. Due to delays with PPI and VAT claims the IVA is over the 6 years so there should fall off records.

All of them, bar nationwide, updated the records without queries. Nationwide seemed to just ignore it, after 28 days I wrote to them again, pointing out they legally had to correct or give me reasons why not under data protection act.

Another month later, still no response from nationwide. Both letters were sent to the data commissioner and signed for.

I have rechecked files, they have updated it each month with defaulted, and an incorrect start date.

I've now filled a complaint with the ICO which they say may be 6 months, so still want to get this sorted!

Any advice??

Have you received the completion certificate ?? - If not ! the IVA is still active. The IVA will remain on file for a minimal 6 years - longer if it still remains active. When you receive the completion certificate the IVA is then finished. As far as i am aware the creditors are free to mark their own files anyway the want until the certificate is issued. Only after this can you insist they update their files

Have you tried raising a dispute with the credit reference agency itself? They can sort this on your behalf, however the recommended way is usually by the original creditor as it's supposed to be quicker. As you've tried this (albeit unsuccessfully) you should raise it with the credit reference agency.

Hi, thanks for replying....Yes - Dec 12 was when I got the certificate....my last payments was well over a year before that.

Will give that a go.....when I looked on there help it just pointed me in the direction of nationwide. Supose no harm asking them,

Noddle / Call Credit

To be honest, many creditors mainly use Equifax and Experian, however I do know that you can raise a dispute with Noddle direct. Once you've raised the dispute with Noddle, they have 28 days with which to deal with it, however they do tend to be quicker than that. Good luck!

you can raise it with noddle, I have on many occasions
if creditors not updating its a journey to ico but you need a final letter from nationwide first, or try nationwide complaints department first..then ico
time is always the answer, stay focus and you will reach the end all in good time
