Kezza I always met with my IP face to face it was much better. I also had his direct mobile as well as office no in case I needed to have a panic attack and wanted reassuring

Welcome.
The decisions you make regarding your IVA will be so important and are quite simply life changing.
You have found this forum and please use the advice and experience of otheres to get the best possible IVA for you.
DO NOT go with the first IP that you have come accross,it is well worth getting another two companies to look at your circumstances.
The key to a succesful IVA ,once approved ,is affordability.You must ensure that your disposible income that you pay does not leave you in a position that you simply cannot cope.5 years is a very long time on a budget that does not allow you to "live".
PLEASE take my advice and contact another company or two on this forum site.

NEVER PAY UPFRONT FEES. IP can start work before you make a first payment. As Matthew says, never make more than 1 payment before the meeting of creditors.
