Hi Guys, I have just had a call from Egg, this time it was much 'heavier'. The guy told me that because I wasn't willing to make token payments, I would be served a default notice unless I get my creditors meeting booked immediately. He also said that this would blacken my address for 6 years which really worries me as he also said that no-one living here would be able to get any credit. That's fine as far as hubby and me are concerned, we expected this, but we are in rented and probably won't be here for as long as that and our Landlady knows nothing about our IVA. I am really upset and worried. God he was horrible. Our creditors meeting isn't imminent as far as I know, but I am scared now as to how much longer things are likely to take before my IVA is up and running. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Kazzy x

A total bully, and he should be shot at dawn!

This was really heavy bullying tactics. Even if they issue a default notice (and I had loads of them), it is nothing to do with whether or not you have made any payments. It is a standard thing.

It will blacken your record, but your record will be shot to pieces now anyway if you have made no payments. It will drop off after 6 years, and this also happens with your IVA.

Me and hubbie have IVA's and daughter has mananged to get credit. Anyone else living there can disassociate themselves from you if they want credit.

Don't let 'em get you down. He was just trying it on. Glad you didn't back down

Hey Kazzy, they are just trying to scare you, it's disgusting. As far as I know, it is you that will be "blacklisted" not the address. Try not to let them upset you, x

Hi Kallis & Viki, thanks for that, I knew they were going to start calling, but my he was awful. I can't believe they are allowed to use these tactics. I told him to ring my IP direct as he had all the info, but he said it was against the law and breached data protection rules, so he said they would be calling me again regularly until the creditors meeting date. I have had a really rubbish day anyway, and that just topped it off. Sorry to rant, but he has really upset me. Kazzy x

Ladyh, thanks also. Its hard to ignore them, I am sure you'll agree. It's not in my nature to be horrid to anyone so I can't understand this type of bullying. I'll get over it, probably the first of many. Kazzy x

Hey,all you need to do is quote your ref number with your IP and the phone number and forward the call.Let your IP deal with it.Do not allow yourself to be bullied and if you get any more calls requesting token payments, if you can then make the minimum, but also state that by paying them it isn't fair on the other creditors. I was hounded constantly and it made me ill. Hang on in there. Try not to worry about the landlady as well, if you pay your rent there should be no problem.

I just didn't answer them. As we have caller display, anything that came up with withheld or blocked number I didn't answer.

As Quark says, your landlady shouldn't find out as long as your rent is paid. She would have no reason to check anything.

It's not pleasant and does get to you. I don't know how far down the road you are, but try speaking to your IP and asking if he knows when your meeting is likely to be.

Thanks quark2008. For some reason, I don't appear to have a reference number, I will contact Melanie's team to check. I was advised not to pay anyone at all, because as you say, it wouldn't be fair on the other creditors, but it was for this reason that he became nasty. I worry about the Landlady also, because I feel that I am keeping a massive secret from her and in that, I am being deceitful. I have rented for nearly six months, never missed a payment and never met her, but I feel if she found out, she would evict us and I don't want to take the risk. I thought I was doing ok, but now everything seems to be getting on top of me. Kazzy x

Viki & Kallis, the only reason I answer the phone is because I am so afraid that they will call me at work. When my mobile rings at work like it did this morning, I ignore it, but I am not sure if they have my works number and will start ringing that. Kazzy x

Kazzy, all my creditors had my work number so I called them all up and told them to take it off their list, also told them to take my home number off, they can only call on my mobile now. They all did what I asked, not sure if you want to try that, put your mind at ease then. Thinking of you. Viki X

I would have thought that if they had your works number that they would have tried that when you didn't answer your mobile. Normally they will try every number they have until you answer. I used to find that if Barclaycard rang me at home and I didn't answer, then shortly afterwards my mobile would ring and it would be them. I never answered that either.

Like you, I wasn't sure if they had my works number, but if they did, they never rang it.

Kallis, touch wood, to date no-one has called me at work, so maybe they don't have my number, I can't remember to be honest. I just need to toughen up a bit and be ready for them. At work, I'm much tougher and am very assertive, but in my 'real' life, I am a softy and take this sort of thing to heart. Silly me. Kazzy x

You're welcome Kazzy. Take a deep breath. I take it you are with Melanie ? There is no need for your landlady to find out, you will be able to pay your rent as usual. She will have no grounds to evict you anyway. Her only concern would be that she continues to receive her rent, and has you have been don't worry. Ask them politely to not contact you during working hours and not to use your work number as that would equate to harassment. When they ring you give them Melanie's firm number and the application ref you have with them regarding your IVA. End the call politely and swiftly. You are in control and are taking a responsible step in managing your debts. You will be fine.
