I've not had one as yet and only 3 payments to go...yay

I will apply for a card and pay off fully each month but only after completion certificate is received. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Not sure Thematrix.

My husband and I are only 8 months into ours !!
Well it does seem little point attacking the register as in a iva you cannot get a credit card without permission so seems odd their marketing tactics.

I could understand them going after you in year 5 at the conclusion of a IVA given their marketing demographics.

They probably just do a mass marketing from the voters list in the hope that someone will apply.

Probably, but they seem to target those with a previous history of financial difficulties which makes me think they have a more select source of data to target than a blanket electoral roll mailshot.

They'll be buying a mailing list from somewhere for people with adverse credit I would think. x

I seem to have had a letter from them every month since I reached 60months into my IVA, nothing before that point, does seem like specific targeting

I think most people after the IVA want to start to improve there credit rating and you have a choice of a vanquis card or another called aqua as these are the only 2 that almost guarantee to give you a credit card post IVA.

One of the few marketing compaigns where actually the target market can benefit by it (just pay the balance off though!)

Hi

I agree, if you pay the card off each month the APR doesn't matter and it will start to rebuild your credit rating.

For anyone looking to hire a car on holiday, for example, a credit card is near essential

I've had a Vanquis card for a few years now and I pay the balance off in full each month so I don't worry about the APR. Dave is applying for a Nectar credit card with me as a named card holder so I'll switch to using that, but I'll keep the Vanquis card and use it for something small each month to help my credit rating.

I suspect that if you wait until the file is clean, and then you apply to a creditor who was not part of your IVA you'll have a good chance of being accepted too.

I managed a 0% APR card with Barclaycard, though the interest rate is 0% I still pay it off every month.

Hmm, x took over y who had been taken over by b who had been bought by a and then bought x...

Nearly 7 years on I not sure I have the faintest idea who my creditors were in many cases in relation to todays banks!!

But in my case i really needed one in relation to my job asap. I survived for the IVA but it was pretty stressful at a hotel check in desk praying the cashplus card would work and be accepted for example and that I had the money to load it up beforehand.
