Hi

Since our IVA completed in march we are receiving at least one letter each a month trying to tempt us to apply for a credit card....does anyone know why this might be? We never got these while the IVA was active.
Our IVA is still on file until next month.
An IVA is a long hard road but valuable lessons have been learnt along the way. Now looking forward to enjoying a debt free future!

I am getting at least 5 emails a day and they are increasing the closer I get to making my final payment.

It comes down to they know that you are coming out of the IVA process and see you as a business opportunity.

Don't forget that whilst in an IVA your information was publically available via the Insolvency Register.

IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.

I am sure they trawl the IR for prospects.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

You should see the number of emails about taking out an IVA!

If I were a lender I would also look for ex IVAers as good prospective clients. They have no debt, made previous mistakes which they now know how to avoid and would be a much lower risk than a student coming out of college!

My only concern is that ex IVAers would be too financially astute and would repay in full each month. I certainly would not be worried about them defaulting.

It has been known but that is a situation that is not just unique to the IVA industry.

This has been edited to add that the IVA industry has done a lot to ensure that a lot of bad practice is weeded out.

The ICO has taken action against/prosecuted individuals who do this and whilst the fine is low they do end up with a criminal record.

The last actual company they took action against was selling a product linked to screening out cold calls but the company itself was one of the biggest cold callers around!

I am not on the insolvency register and have not been since March. The letters just seem to be increasing and we never got any whilst we were in the IVA only getting since completed?

Ha ha Kallis

That's exactly what I do with them!!

I was just curious as to why there is now an increase in me getting these letters when I did not get any during IVA.

Whilst information will have been in the public domain they will have been building up their own records.

It's clear that some companies value the information that they can get from people in an IVA just as much as the actual processing of the IVA itself.
