I logged on to my Cashplus account this morning to be greeted by an "improve your credit history message", and having read it - it is very interested.

They basically loan you 12 months membership fee, so as long as you pay your £4.95 subscription fee, it will be reported to your credit record that you have made 12 payments and repaid the loan. It is 0% interest, and your account operates as usual.

----------------

If you are a fully verified cashplus customer, you are eligible to join creditbuilder.

creditbuilder is very simple. Here’s how it works:

*You need to be a cashplus customer to get creditbuilder.
*You complete the simple application forms and send them to us with a copy of your identification to have creditbuilder added to your cashplus gold account for a year.
*Advanced Payment Solutions Limited loan you £59.40 to pay for one year’s use of your cashplus card – the money is only available for this purpose.
*You pay NO interest, NO administration fees and NO extra charges!
*You just need to make sure that there is at least £4.95 in your account every month.
*We take the usual payments of £4.95 from your activeplus account every month, while you continue to top-up and use your cashplus prepaid gold MasterCard as normal.
*After 12 monthly payments of £4.95, the £59.40 loan has been successfully repaid.
*If all payments are made in time we report that you have completed a loan repayment.
*Your credit rating should be improved!

that is a great product to help things on the way. I am not suggesting that after a debt solution everyone wants to rush out and do it again but there will be times when everyone needs a little credit - cooker / fridge broken etc. Possibly evengeting a better deal withh 0% interest but one needs to sign a credit agreement.

Cashplus are one of the few card companies who only charge a fixed monthly fee and don't charge to top up or deduct when you spend ( still charge for ATM withdrawals like everyone else) .

It will be good to see how that goes for you.

I think as long as you intend to keep the Cashplus card over the 12 month period then I think as you say it's a great start. You don't have access to the £59.40 from what I can see, it is obviously a clever way around reporting a credit product without you actually really having credit.

Obviously though - I should be clear you would be taking a credit of £60, so anyone in an IVA should make sure this is understood and their IP is notified as required.

Hi
Wen makes a very good point, however I know my own IVA stated no credit to be taken over £250 without IPs permission,so the modest £59.40 should be fine but do check your IVA paperwork to be sure
