Hello all,

I have today sent off my paperwork to Clearstart for an IVA. i am terrified. I have been with the CCCS for the past 2 years and have nver missed a payment to my DMP, HOWEVER i FEEL LIKE IT IS GOING NO WHERE....
Has anyone dealt with Clearstart? so far they have been excellent......

Clearstart are offering £234 per month for about 38K do you think this is an acceptable amount, I think i may be able to raise it a little higher amount if I discipline my self!!

Anyway I would just like to say that this site is invaluable and I am so glad I have found it!!!

Take care to you all,

Angel x

Hi Angel

We are with Clearstart and they have been great with us. Our IVA got approved in November with a few modification. I think they originally put it forward offering 28p to £1, but they reduced their fees and made it 35p to £1.

Good luck with everything

Hi Angel
My debts are £36k and I am proposing £256 per month with £7k equity in year 4, so yours is pretty much same as mine. Who are your creditors, and are you releasing equity

I joint own my house with my friend so I think that I will have about aprox 5k equity at moment.
I will release it if needed too.
Creditors are:
Alliance & Leiceter
Barclays
Halifax
Creation consumer finance
Choice
Co-op
Black Horse
Egg

I feel so embarrased with all those. I just hope and pray that this gets accepted........

I'm sure it will, please try not to panick. My meeting is on Monday so I know exactly how you feel, but the IP would not waste time and put a proposal forward that would easily get rejected. Just try to hang on to that thought, that's what I'm doing.

DO most ivas get approved and do creditors judge you for being in a DMP prior to IVA?

Good luck to you both too. Try not to stress, easier said than done I know, but the main point is that you are addressing the problem and are doing your best. You say you feel you could pay a little more if necessary, dont be pushed into any higher payments you cant comfortably manage, it will make living very hard. I am sure all will be fine.

Hi Angel,

I'm with Clearstart and they have been very good on the whole. Having read posts here I think their fees are relatively high, but I've found them to be good at communication which mattered most to me at the beginning (22 months ago) and they've been sensible and realistic since at review etc. Very best of luck to you, don't be in doubt you're doing the right thing... as for being emabarrassed with that list, don't be, sincerely wish I'd been sensible enough to wake up to the problem at 38k! Just keep reminding yourself that in 60 months it'll all be over and you can start afresh, debt free..... that'll put you in a very small minority in this country...

Martin

Hello and welcome to the forum. I'm with Clearstart. My IVA was applied for and the first payment went out this month. They appear to be fine, but if you read my initial entries you will see the huge anxieties that I had about the company, what I was doing. I was totally preoccupied and doubtful. I know I've only made one payment and I know I've got a very long way to go but the changes are already massive. I sleep, the massive amounts of post have stopped coming and any sraggling post just goes to Clearstart and they sort it out. This forum is Godsend. Keep reading. keep posting. This period of indecision and not knowing was definately the worst for me.All the best. Cat 1

My IP is Alex Twitchen, I have never soken to him but to be honest I have neber needed to. This forum has been fantastic, I have asked quite a few questions and always had answers within a short space of time. Good luck please let us know how you go on.

Hi Angel

I'm also with ClearStart and I found them very helpful in dealing with my IVA. My IVA was approved at the end of Nov 2006 and I have just recently forwarded my 1st year review paperwork to them. You're with a good company so just hang in there. Good luck to you..
Last payment made on 1st Nov 2011. Happy to be debt free!

SORRY FOR THE CAPS MY EYES ARE ON A BAD DAY

I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO WISH CARAF ALL THE VERY BEST WHAT AN AWFUL TIME TO BE WAITING FOR AN IVA DECISION - I WILL BE THINKING OF YOU BUT PLEASE REMEMBER AN IP WOULD NOT PROPOSE AN IVA IF HE/SHE DID NOT THINK IT WAS GOING TO BE APPROVED - YOU SHOULD BE OK WHAT A FAB XMAS PRESSIE THIS WILL BE ALTHOUGH 2 DAYS LATE-
REMEMBER TO GET YOURSELF A NEW BANK ACCOUNT SET UP OR IF YOU HAVE A BANK ACCOUNT THAT YOU DO NOT OWE ANY MONEY TO YOU COULD USE THIS BUT CANCEL ANY OVERDRAFTS ON IT SO YOU START YOUR IVA WITH A TOTALLY CLEAN SLATE. MAKE SURE YOUR SALARY GOES INTO YOUR NEW BANK ACCOUNT.MAKE SURE YOU TAKE ADVICE FROM YOUR IP PROVIDER ABOUT WHEN TO TELL PEOPLE YOU ARE APPLYING FOR AN IVA THIS REALLY MATTERS BIG TIME

ANGEL - CLEAR START ARE A VERY GOOD COMPANY THEY DO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE ALTHOUGH SOMETIMES DUE TO TIME IT MAY SEEM THEY ARE NOT DOING MUCH THEY NEED TO BE GIVEN THE TIME TO DO THEIR JOB AND TO DO THE BEST FOR EVERY PERSON THEY HAVE AN IVA FOR AND BELIEVE ME THERE ARE LOTS AND LOTS NOT JUST YOU YOU HAVE NOTHING TO BE EMBARASSED ABOUT BELIEVE ME - WHAT YOU OWE IS PEANUTS COMPARED TO SOME PEOPLE AND YOU HAVE TAKEN THE RESPONSIBLE STEPS TO GET THINGS SORTED OUT I WISH YOU ALL THE VERY BEST

I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE WHAT ITS LIKE I AM 15 MONTHS INTO MY IVA AND ALTHOUGH MY HEALTH IS NOT GOOD SOMETIMES IT WAS A WHOLE LOT WORSE BEFORE I GOT MY IVA APPROVED!!!
VERY BEST WISHES TO EVERYONE
J
