Hi..my friend has taken out an IVA, they were introduced by a third party and put in touch with the IP firm. The 3rd party is a well know firm(believe they post on here)
To cut a long story short, she was alarmed when i told her that an IVA details list is available to all an sundry to view, with her name and full address publicized on the WWW. at the Insolvency Service Website.
We did some research and checked all the paperwork she had been sent and also the information (including videos) on the firms website. These all stated "completely private" & "no-one will be aware except you and your IP".
She sent an email to complain about this clearly misleading information, 3 days later a very apologetic letter was received enclosing a cheque for £500.This was the full sum of the "introductory fee" she had paid. They state they are going to amend their website and publicity to refelct that information is available on the world wide web about people in an IVA.
Now, how many of us can ask for the same sort of treatment ? clearly the company is a little nervous about bad publicity !
Comments ?

Hi
Would your friend have taken a different route had they,d known that the info would be on the insolvency website ?
It is something that should be pointed out prior to commencing an IVA but it is still a very little known register that the average person would not know about.
