Skippy - I was going to do an IVA and opened the next stage up co-op account, debt card, cheque book etc but no overdraft facility .. when I went BR, I told the OR about it and he was cool about it , just reminded me not to write any bad cheques, the co-op were ok too , same deal dont write any bad cheques .. everyone seems happy with it. I have only writen one cheque so far - mortgage, and have set up all my d/d's on the account for utilities etc .. the debt card is ok too - its a visa debit card ( no credit ) that I use in tescos, paid my BT bill with it over the phone.
Its a coop basic current account - the next one up is a privledge account but I wouldnt want that as it allows overdrafts up to £100 free of charge.
It may have helped that the account was set up before I went BR, I had already arranged to have my wages put in there and of course I was credit checked before I went BR - I had a great credit rating as I had paid all my debts ..but had no money to live on.
Lucky ?
