I was soo worried and stressed this morning, I am just relieved it is all over!

The OR was very polite and professional, I just tried to answer the questions as best as I could remember, its hard, trying to remember dates and such, I was just honest and said, yes we borrowed too much and got out of our depth, tried to sell the house but secured loan company would not let us, blah, blah, blah and the debts and charges and interest have just mounted up.

But I am still a bit unclear about whether we will get an IPA or not. He never mentioned it, would this be decided at a later date???

And my private number plate, worth about £300 approx, I said my daughter would pay for me to keep it, but he did not really answer and said he would get back to me?????

Also mentioned BRO/U but said the chances of us getting one are a bit slim, I hope so!!!!!!!!!!!!

And he said he will NOT tell our landlord about BR!! (I could kiss him for that!!)
THANK GOD!!!!!!!!

Hi Jane, I'm glad it went well. Until I actually had my OR interview I thought that I would be speaking to some sort of ogre who would be trying to trip me up every time I spoke! Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised!

Regarding your IPA, I was told during the interview that I would be getting one, and the examiner also told me the amount, although that did increase when I received the agreement. I didn't argue though as it was so much less than I was paying into the IVA! How much was left after your outgoings?

I don't know what to say about your number plate, all you can do it wait and see what he comes back with. When I had my initial conversation with the examiner she told me that she would have to get back to me about the car and she told me the same day that I would be able to keep it, and that was then followed up in writing.

From what I know of your situation, and from what Melanie has said to me when I've been panicking I very much doubt that you would get a BRU. I have looked on the insolvency website at the BRO/BRU register and most of them are given for gambling, obtaining credit knowing you wouldn't be able to pay it back and fraud.

I'm so glad that the OR won't tell your landlord! Now try and relax - you have faced up to your debts and done something about them. How many people can say that?

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.

I do feel quite relieved now, more so than after the actual bankruptcy appointment, we may be able to look to the future now, at last!

I am not sure what he thinks of our I&E list, after outgoings, we have exactly £4.61 left per MONTH!!!!!!! But not sure if he will disallow some things or not, he didn’t say, I am still a bit worried now, in case he rings back!!!!!!!!!

Jane

I do believe that there is a hint of you begining at last to feel more postive about the future.

I think that you have to reach at least 100 pounds over your I and E to get an IPA, they wouldnt be able to find that on your list, surely? Skip will correct me if I am wrong.

It will take time for you to settle down after its all over, what a journey it has been for you???

I would stay stuff anyone who wants to judge you, you did what you had to and good on you. Tell them to get lost and get on with your life, how on earth can anyone understand what you do now????

Go and enjoy the relief for now, you deserve it.

I am glad its almost over for you.

Jane

Please, please, please take time out from all the stress and worry and start to live life again. I'm so pleased the interview went well and as Lily says, with your available disposable income its highly unlikely you will get an IPA.

You need to look after yourself now. Your health has been affected by all this. Start viewing the glass as half full and try not to look at the 'what ifs'.

Really pleased there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Dave

Lily is right, you generally need to have more than £100 surplus to get an IPA.

When I had my OR interview over the phone they never said anything about IPA and I had about £20 left, I was also worried because my earnings before I declared myself BR was a lot more than what I had written down (i was working every bit of overtime I could get, usually working 12 hours a day 7 days a week which was making me ill) so I really thought they would get me for that but they never did.

You should relax now and be so glad it's all dealt with. It was the best feeling when I could fianlly have a full night sleep and not worrying about money. Don't get me wrong, I still worry but only because I'm so scared of getting back into the old situation. It's better now tho

what is this world coming to???

Pleased foryou Jane

Good news about the Landlord and now you can start to look forward.

As for the number plate from my understanding your sister just needs to make an offer and the OR usually will accept it or negotiate if they think it is worth more!

So we all move forwards again!

The OR has not rung back today and I am getting worried now! Silly husband said we spent £150 per week on food, its more like £120, I know this is high but that’s 2 adults and 3 teenagers! I think the OR thought this was excessive.

My worry is that if he sets up an IPA it means we cannot afford to run a cheap old banger car and then we are buggared as husband will definitely not be able to get to work. He is on call 24 hours per day, we live on the outskirts of the town and he has to travel between 2 factories!!!! This is the reason I am soo worried! I know I will have to walk everywhere but we need at least one car! The ones we have now will have to go as the HP agreements state if we are made bankrupt, they will repossess them.(we cannot afford the payments now anyway)

You should be given a modest amount for another car, it does seem that its unfair to force someone into not being able to work. The only experience I had was that I was told my car wouldnt go, it does seem to differ from area to area.

I dont think that 120 pounds a week for food is excessive jane, that includes cleaning etc, even if it is you still need more than 100 pounds surplus to get an IPA. Please try to stop worrying, its not good for your health. What will be will be and you will get through it.

Try to take the positives from today and relax, you can do mo more now.

£120 and even £150 for housekeeping for five adults is certainly not excessive Jane. Let us know what the OR thinks.

Jane from what I was told the OR allowances were was around 350 for two adults a month for food and cleaning so if you allow 120 per week for five of you that is about right! you can only say what you spend and it doesn't seem excessive to me that includes everything in that - please try not to worry until you get the call back, from what I have heard and its only what i have heard but OR's are usually sympathetic for cars and people getting into work it will all be OK!
