No, I have no allowances for school uniforms, trips, etc!! Not sure how we are going to manage! (I didn’t expect it to be easy but thought we would be allowed to live!)

I did put £15 for xmas but was told this was not allowed so I listed it under Contingency/school stuff, but £15 per month will in no way cover xmas and school trips, uniforms, etc!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jane.L are you under the OR at Liverpool???

Thanks for all the replies guys...will they send me an I and E and what I will have to pay in the post to sign??? i think if they do I will look through it and speak to someone higher up if I'm not happy with it.

I just don't want to get on the wrong side of anyone and end up paying more each month or even a BRU!!!

Just feel like I'm in limbo at the minute!!!

I was sent an IPA to sign and this lists out the expenditure that the OR has allowed. I don't think you can get a BRU for disputing it, although the OR can apply to the courts for you to have an IPO (Income Payments Order) when the payment is taken at source rather than you paying by standing order.

I'm sure it won't Michelle. If you disagree with the figures when you receive them speak to the person you are dealing with at the OR's office and if they can't help you speak to someone higher up the food chain. Just remember that the OR isn't there to make life unbearable for you (although obviously we all have to give up some things!) but to enable you to live and to learn to live within your means.

Yeah I think I will ring and speak to Miss Kelly on Monday about the Gas and whether we are allowed anything for telephones and if she would allow anymore for insurances...

The only thing I am scared off Skippy is that she did allow extra for some things like holidays I put £50 and she allowed £150 and clothes I had put £150 and she allowed £170...she said she had to go back to her boss now to see if the figures were ok, so should I just wait and see when see sends the IPA out or what????

Did she say she would contact you before the IPA was sent out or is she just going to send it out? When I received my IPA she had actually changed some of the expenditure allowances and I ended up paying £70 per month more than she had said on the phone. I didn't argue as I was paying a hell of a lot less than I had been paying in my IVA!

It might be worth giving her a call on Monday - the fuel bill is way too low and I think you need to try and sort it out rather than wait.

Hi Michelle

I would just be as polite as possible to her, it sounds like she may be new to it all and has to check everything out as she is not sure herself. We all have to start somewhere, you could even be her fiest case.

Dont worry too much about it, I know its hard but your gas and insurance is unreasonable, I would say that to her, in a nice kind of way. Its your life at the end of the day and youre entitiled to be treated fairly.

I wouldnt try going above her head at this stage, just say that you trust her to sort it out and make it reasonable for you. She should then make sure she does.

Good luck, chin up and smile, this is the start of your new life.

Hi Michelle,
In our IVA we have £210 a month allocated for school costs which includes school dinners, fruit and milk money, swimming lessons, trips and compulsory uniforms, including shoes. It sounds a lot but we have three daughters(all in primary school), and we probably spend a bit more than that if I am honest, especially as they are all very tall, and seem to grow at an alarming rate! (I'm 6' and hubby is 6'4", so they were never going to be petite girls!)
I hope the person you are dealing with at the OR Office is going to be realistic about these expenses (hopefully with kids of her own so she knows exactly what they cost!)
Good luck
Blue
