i am considering an IVA. I have debt over credit card and loan debt over 20,000 but i havent paid anything of any of them for over a year or so because i didnt know where to start. I have now been informed by HMRC that i owe them 18,000 tousand pounds for an overpayment(!. would i beable to include the money owed to HMRC in an IVA and what are the chances of HMRC accepting and the other companies due to the fact that i have nade no effort to pay them anything. i have had a lot of personal problems that have contributed to this.

HMRC are Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs - still affectionally known as the Inland Revenue to most of us!

This debt will need to be inclused within your IVA, and they are usually quite commercial about accepting IVAs so long as your tax history has been compliant. Are you up to date with the submission of tax and VAT returns?
