I think this has been posted before but I can't seem to find it...my apologies.

I'm two months into my IVA and everything ( fingers crossed ) seems to have settled down, no more letters or phone calls now. Still waiting/expecting letters from DCAs if my debts are sold on but thats another thing that may or may not happen in the future so I'm not worrying about that as its covered by T&Cs of the IVA anyway.

Anyway, I received a phone call yesterday and it was an automated voice saying that that if I have found myself in debt, can't make payments, well there is a government legislation that can help, please press 5 now to talk to one of our reps etc etc ( sounded like one of those great adverts on the telly that we all love[;)] ).

What I would like to know is that who is giving out my number to these agency's?[:(!]

Since I started my IVA only my IP and creditors have my number, I am and always have been doubly sure that my number is kept private.
I can't see it being my IP as they are a decent company so it must be someone working for my creditors....

I am registered with the telephone sales block thing and so is my home address, so it must be one of my creditors who has given out the info.
Of course when I did 1471 the caller had withheld their number.

Just when I thought that the important phone calls had ended, the stupid ones are beginning to take their place, whats next?
Emails and letters ?

Dont forget that your full name and address are available on the Insolvency Website. Perhaps they trace your telephone number from there? I have had letters from various companies offering "help and advice" since I started my IVA but no phone calls (I am pleased to say!!). But it would seem a bit pointless contacting people to suggest an IVA when they are already on the register!!!!

I got one of those a week after being in my iva.
Just press 5 speak to them and ask them to take you off their list. They haven't called me back since.

I haven't had any since but I will think about talking to them next time as you suggest, just I hate answering them as its acknowledging that you exist and that sometimes leads to other companies trying their luck so to speak but I will see if it happens again.
Thanks

I have letters like this too, I am not on the insolvency website, a couple of loan companies offering consolidation and a few from IVA/DMP companies,(I think). Most are very friendly saying I am not alone and they know how stressful this situation is. They promise to solve my problem and it wont cost me a penny, help is here in the form of government legislation. I did think about phoning but then thought better of it.

My feeling is they are looking at people on credit reference agencies as I would have a trashed credit rating right now.

I am now 3 months into my IVA and my name should be firmly rooted onto the insolvency website so unless they are getting the info from an outdated reference file there really should be no reason for them to phone as obviously I am already into an IVA situation.
Getting my phone number is the strange one as I keep it very secret so it must be one of my past creditors...
