Hi,

If you go to the Insolvency Service's web site and register, there is a very user friendly interface which will help you to fill in the required details.

Take your time, and you will also need to have to hand lots of details as to debts, housing, assets etc. You can save it at any time, and log out, and then back in again at a later date.

Heres the link: https://www.insolvencydirect.gov.uk/isolv

And in answer to your other question, yes, you will have to attend court to file your petition. Some courts allow you to simply turn up, others need you to make an appointment.

Telephone your closest court and ask them for the procedure, you should find them very helpful.

Hello djd,

If you post your concerns on here, I may be able to answer them?

Once you have completed your bankruptcy forms, call your local court to see if you can make an appointment. I believe when you go to court you are required to take 3 copies of your bankruptcy forms.

DJD, the Insolvency Service website is very helpful, as Andymac said, and you can fill the forms in online. Everyone on here is very helpful, so if you have any questions, post them - I am sure someone will know the answer. I am still filling in my BR forms now! Good luck. D.

Hi DJD, filling in the forms on the Insolvency website is far easier than trying to do them by hand (and you'll save a fortune in tippex!). You can complete them bit by bit as and when you get the information they need, then come back to them. Once you've completed them, print them off, phone your local court (there's a link on the Insolvency website which will help you find your local court that deals with bankruptcy). If you're struggling with the forms, either post your questions here, as I'm sure someone will be able to help you (they're a friendly lot with a wealth of knowledge!) or pop down to your local Citizen's Advice Bureau. Don't worry about the actual court date, it's no where near as scary than you imagine!
