I advice a debt card...which is basically a prepaid credit card, with no interest. Every bank has one.
Recent college graduate with a debt negotiation concentration.

You can get a pre paid debit card from Quidity, the only thing is you have to pay 2.95% on every purchase you make.

I wouldn't recommend the Bread card. It's almost impossible to keep track of what you've spent as the statement figures never add up. I've got a Virgin Mastercard which charges 2.95% per spend but that's ok for me as I don't use it very often. If you are going to use it a lot I would go for either the Tuxedo card or Cashplus card as you pay £4.99 per month and can use it as often as you like.

The cash plus card work quite, well if you only use it a few times a month, you have the option of a fixed fee per month or £1 per transcation.

With Cashplus, you can also sign up to their "Creditbuilder" option. (Basically you are tied into a 12month contract to pay the £4.95 subscription), and you have this recorded on your credit report, so improving your score.

(Note, in theory you are taking £60 credit, so make sure you are aware of this fact.)

I think Cash plus is very good.

I have to agree about the comment about Bread although I will keep it as it gives me another option with the Maestro sign on it!

I swear by my Cashplus card if you opt for the £4.95 p.month fee, no fees on transactions and top ups free at the Post Office ... I really wouldn't be without mine, indeed I have one for personal use and one for 'household' use.

Hi

I feel Pre Paid Credit Cards should be banned, you are trying to get out of debt and why should you pay to get your own money out.

I would ban theses companies.

Regards.

Hi
Trouble is Neil that you sometimes need a way to pay for items over the phone or online and the only way[apart from paypal] is by using a debit or credit card. Some people with IVAs or bankruptcy can't obtain either so a pre paid card is the only option. You can't get in debt using a pre paid card and I'm sure that pre paid will grow,it won't be just phones and credit cards in the future,I think John Tegg is looking into pre paid insurance on a monthly basis etc
