Hi
Im very new to this and have decided that an IVA is probably the only way out of my sticky situation. Is it just me or was anyone else nervous about what IVAs entailed?

Hi there and welcome to the forum

I don't know of anyone who has not been scared or aprehensive about the iva procedure before starting out.
It can be very scary and worrying time..

I would suggest getting the best help and www.iva.com can help here for reviews about iva providers and asking as many questions as you need to to feel comfortable about the steps you need to take.

The forum is also a great wealth of knowledge and support and helped me tremendously.

Have you taken any advice or found anyone to represent you yet?

HI AND WELCOME!

I WOULD NOT IMAGINE THERE IS ANYONE WHO IS NOT APPREHENSIVE OR NERVOUS ABOUT ENTERING INTO AN IVA.

IN MY SITUATION I JUST KNEW WE COULD NOT CARRY ON THE WAY WE WERE ROBBING PETER TO PAY PAUL AND SINKING DEEPER.

LIKE EMMA HAS SAID HAVE A LOOK ON THIS SITE FOR RECOMMENDED IPS, KEEP ASKING QUESTIONS AND YOU WILL GET LOTS OF SUPPORT FROM PEOPLE ON HERE.

I FELT JUST BY MAKING THE FIRST INITIAL CALL TO ASK FOR HELP - LIKE A WEIGHT HAD BEEN LIFTED AND SOMEONE COULD HELP ME WITH WHAT I WAS GOING THROUGH. AM NOT SAYING IT WILL BE EASIER AND SOME DAYS THE LETTERS AND PHONECALLS HAVE GOT TO ME, BUT AT LEAST YOU WILL BE FACING YOUR PROBLEMS HEAD ON AND ACTING TO GET THEM SORTED.

WE CHOSE MELANIE GILES AS OUR IP AND CAN SAY HAVE FOUND HER AND HER STAFFS SERVICE TO BE FAULTLESS!

GOOD LUCK AND LET US KNOW HOW YOU GET ON!

LOVE BARB X

You are bound to be a little nervous when you first think about approaching a firm for professional help, but I can assure you that after the first conversation you will feel so much better and as if you are sharing your problems with others.

Trained insolvency practitioners and staff are not judgemental - if we were we would be out of jobs! - and we are more than used to dealing with even the worst situations you could imagine.
Regards, Melanie Giles, Insolvency Practitioner

Hi there and welcome to the forum.
I dont think there is anyone that wasnt nervous at the beginning.
Get all the info you can, read the blogs, look at all the options avaliable to you. I also agree, Melanie is an excellent Ip and comes very well recommended, Melanie and her team will give good honest advice as well as the best solutions for your situation. You can also get reviews of Ip,s and companies on iva.com.

Thx
I have emailed Mel and will hopefully chat this week. Not quite happy with the proposal made with EFS (expert financial) too many discrepancies with things and I have many Q's and alterations to make.
Is life better with this solution? dealing with divorce at the same time, pile it on or what?[:I]

Sorry Mel

They are a company called Expert Financial Solutions - part of the Money Expert set up?

Would really like to talk with yourself at a suitable time, you do come highly recommended by what I have read so far.

Thx

I don't know them, but it is a good idea to take a couple of opinions just so that you can compare the service.

And do use the forum as you will get a lot of emotional and friendly support from some fabulous, likeminded people.

An iva is a great solution for the right situation. The best judge of that will be a good IP. If you are not happy do get a second opinion. Certain things need to be right, your income and expenditure has to be a managable amount for you. Sorry to hear about the divorce not an easy time very stressful. I would not do anything until you have that second opinion.
For us it is the best thing we have ever done. No not easy, but life is now stress free we know what we have a
and for the first time ever we even manage to save a bit, though our overtime helps with that. We have learnt to manage out money and live on what we have. As said not easy but so much better than just working to pay the bills and worry whether we would get through the month without defaulting. We are 1 and a half years into our iva and it really has gone quickly another 3 and a bit years and all our money will be ours and we will be debt free. This is of course my opinion, for some and with various reasons it can be a struggle. I cant say it enough, get good advice at the beginning and it is a good solution for the right set of circumstances.

Hi Jes32

This is very much a time to go with your intuition, if something doesn't feel right then it probably isn't ... so you are doing right to get a second opinion.

It is a nerve wracking time, but once you have made those first steps forwards of addressing the problem you will be fine.

All the very best

Debbie

You're doing the right thing by seeking help.. we buried our heads in the sand and lived off cards!! Once we decided to do something about it, the weight that comes off your shoulders is immense. By just seeking that advise and knowing the options that are there for you.
We went with Melanie as she is highly recommended and then just speaking to her team, confirmed we had made the right decision!!
Ang.. 13 payments in.. WOW, thats over 20% paid!! http://angela18.blogs.iva.co.uk/ well here we go

if you wish for a rainbow... then you have to put up with the rain xx
