One of my creditors, NR, have tracked down my office phone number and called me there. Not happy at all as I have never given them the number of my office, and non of my colleagues know about my pending IVA.
While my IVA is being prepared, they are ringing somewhere in the region of 15 times a day. I answered them twice, and have written to them twice. I just dont answer the phone at home now (I have caller ID), but I never expected them to track me employer down.
Hey Flush, you shouldn't have to put up with this. Phone them and get your work phone number taken off their list. I did this with all my creditors. Tell them that you are not allowed calls at work.
It's just not on, that. I was lucky that non of mine contacted me at work other than on my mobile.
I agree with Viki, tell them to take the number off their lists. You could try telling them that personal calls to work is a disciplinary offence and you could lose your job because of it.
They won't know any different.

I agree you shouldn't have calls at work. Furthermore I thought they could only contact you on numbers given or on a number you've used to dial them. You haven't called them from work in the past by any chance?
Even so do as Viki suggests, call them and get that number removed from their list.
That's my worst nightmare. I don't have a direct line so they would hav to go through our receptionist who is the world's biggest gossip. A few callers have asked for my work number but I have declined to give to them.

If you think nobody cares whether you're alive or dead, try missing a couple of credit card payments!!!
Where on earth would they have got your office number from? I cannot understand the sense of creditors calling you at work when they have received copies of your IVA proposals indicating that a creditors meeting has been called.
All they have had is a template letter telling them that I have appointed an IP and am proceeding on an IVA. The proposal hasnt actually been sent to them yet. I can only assume that they got my employer from my answer phone on my works mobile when I say that is "flush from such and such" and they have traced the company. I wouldnt mind but I have spoken to them twice and told them this, and also written twice to them, but obviously this has not registered.
hi
our iva was rejected and we are still in limbo with what to do, but i have a creditor calling my work every day at least twice very embarrassing chasing us its a nightmare
I totally sympathise with you flush as barclaycard rang me at work.i was mortified & luckily it was me who answered the phone.i told them that i was not allowed calls at work,& especially not from credit card companies. And if i was disciplined for it i wouldnt be able to go ahead with the iva & try to pay them some of their money back! i demanded that they remove my work no from their file & thankfully they didnt ring again.i then rang all my other creditors to make sure that they didnt have my work number.
I know how that feels, I had a call from MBNA who tracked me down at work when I was applying for a IVA. We are not allowed personal calls, let alone debt chasing calls but think they did some investigating into me to track me down.
I was really angry at the time too, they could have jepodised my job and thus ability to pay them and other creditors back in a IVA.
Thank God it did not get that far and they seen sense after I called them in the evening to explain this to them. They did not call my work again, but I did let my IP know about this too so not sure if they did something too.
We're willing to wipe the slate clean, give you a fresh start. All that we're asking in return is your cooperation.
And blowing a whistle down the phone so that it "hurts like hell" is surely assault.
If a person doesn't want to be contacted at work, its only fair if they keep in regular contact with their creditors (or IVA supervisors) by other means. Otherwise you can't blame people for dialling 118118 and getting your work number.
I always kept in regular contact with my creditors,& even made a point of putting my mobile phone no at the top of all the letter's i sent out informing them that i was pursuing an iva..Where i work it is part of the policies & procedures that staff must not recieve personal phonecalls at work. And i think that creditors should respect this, and not continue to keep ringing someone at their place of work when they have asked them not to,which in my opinion is just a fair & reasonable request..[:)]
