When we go bankrupt I will have received my months wages. Will that be taken away from us?? I may have asked this question but my mind has gone to jelly. I was planning on keeping that months wages to tide us over for the coming month, for food, gas, electricity, fuel to work etc. Then the same the following month and so on. We will have no other income coming in my hubby will be redundant and will not get any benefit.
If they take my wages away we will have no food, bus fare or fuel - surely they will realise we need to live on - please does someone know the answer to this?
No, they will not take your wages that you need to live on away from you. Withdraw the money before you go BR and then you will have to log it down on your BR forms. Don't worry huntersrishon. X

I am no expert, but I would imagine that if your wages were paid after the day you went bankrupt then they would comprise your living allowance. If they are paid prior to your BR then you need to keep them as 'cash in hand' ... i.e if your wages are paid into a bank account then you need to draw this out in cash in case your account is frozen.

Huntersrishon, you will get through this, I know it's all scary now but it'll soon be all done and you can have a fresh start. Keep that in mind and try to stay strong. Thinking of you. X
Huntersrishon, you will get through this. I didn't think I could survive BR when I went through it, but I did, and it has made me a stronger person.
Regarding your money, I withdrew my wages before I went BR so I wouldn't have any problems if my account was frozen. You should declare this on your BR forms as cash in hand (although I forgot!) and the OR won't have a problem with this.
The OR is not an ogre - they are human and know that you are going through a tough time. You will be treated with dignity and compassion by the court staff and the OR xxx
It is just so terrifying!! I know in my heart of hearts we will get through it. Worse things happen. It is just I am usually so strong and not easily phased I feel everything is out of control. If I had not found this forum I do not know where I would be.

I know it seems a drastic step, but once you've done it you've got the chance of a fresh start. I agree with you about feeling out of control - I'm a control freak and that was the worst bit. I'd like to say it made me less of a control freak, but I'm still just as bad!
There's never a problem to being in control ... the key is understanding the difference ... that is that ... we cannot control the things that happen to us in life, but we can control the way we choose to respond to them or allow them to affect us [:)]
