I've started working for a company and have been told I need to go to a police station and obtain a data subject access check.

I've never heard of this before, will the check have details of my IVA?

Possibly but im sure the company only want to know if you have a criminal record. Unless the job holds some kind of financial position.

Hi honeycomb

Its not something that I have heard of, but I am sure someone will know.

Perhaps Kallis or one of the other experts will be able to shed some light on this?

You need to fill a form specific to the local Police force... they will then provide you the information within 40 days.

No used very often these days with Criminal Records Bureau.

In essence you can request a SAR from any organisation that holds data about you.

No there will be no details of your IVA on the SAR.

It is a Subject Access Request under the Data Protection Act for an individual to access information held about that individual by a data processor in this case the police.

With the Criminal Records Bureau in place I have only ever really known people who are emigrating to use SAR on the local Police Force.

Suppose a reason could be the cost as max charge on a SAR is £10.00 whereas CRB is £31-£36.
