I had a call from a guy wanting to 'help' me as I was red flagged on the insolvency register. When asked if by red flagged he meant I was with dfd he confirmed that was the reason. I'm sure he was convinced that if I looked I'd see this big flag waving!!!
Anyhow he was basically trying to convince me I'd been mis sold because of my ip provider and having no assets to protect. He couldn't get his head round the fact that not everyone would choose iva over br and actually want to pay something back. I was even told that under BR creditors would receive more back and the payments would be for 8-12 months not 3 years.
After mentioning the forum, he refused to tell me where he was calling from in case I 'slagged him off' Who me [:D] He did tell me at the beginning but I didn't quite catch it, iva council or consumer something!
I just wonder how many people they speak to who actually listen to this stuff. He did tell me he'd spoken to and 'helped' a thousand people and I was the first one happy with my iva. I had to be the difficult one [}:)] I only put up with him for research purposes, had to tell him to stop shouting at one point though. Don't think he liked my attitude!!

Some people have some front don't they?!? It's not like he even knew what he was talking about - BR payments last for 36 months! I wish it was 8-12 months - I'd be done and dusted by now!
Another desperate ambulance chaser looking for business Pixie - and I think I know the outfit you are referring to. Quite concerning that they found a telephone number for you though - where could they have got that information from?
I pointed out his errors but he couldn't grasp it! I was told that only the naughty ones got 3 years!!! bless!
I don't know where they got the phone number from, suppose it could be in the phone book. It's not in my name though!

The Insolvency Register has addresses - looking it up in the phone book.
Also is anyone else keeps getting these calls ask for his name, phone number and firm he is with - then forward details to me with a resume of what was said please.

I am ex directory and i still get people phoning [DFC ?] telling me they can reduce everything hahahahaha, i had one two days ago who asked 'how much i'm paying' i told him it was none of his damn business and put the phone down [:)]
I have heard that even if you're ex directory the phone companies sell your number on. They're not supposed to, and I have no idea how you'd prove it, but I don't doubt it goes on!
we have been ex directory for years and somehow or other our number still gets into someones computer..altho we have never had a call so far offering /asking about our payments etc....
decades ago...being ex directory did offer some safe guards but nowadays not so sure
IVA completed 11th Dec 2009 due to a Full and Final with the fantastic help of Michael Peoples and

I have been ex directory for more years than I care to remember, and apart from some nuisance calls a few years ago (we had our number changed after that), we have had no trouble at all. My creditors were told the number when we took out loans etc., so that's how they got hold of that.
People can also get hold of your number if you have entered it on any sites, such as insurance quotes, there's nothing to stop them from passing it on.
I never put the number down, I always put 01000000000 or 01234567896
the site accepts that and no one can phone you.

I beleive that you can be placed on a register to stop nuisance phone calls http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/ is just one of the sites I have just found. There is no charge for registering.
Once you have registered your number, then sales and marketing companies cannot by law make unsolicited phone calls to you.
