might be quicker if you went to a branch good luck x
The information I have consistently recieved is that Barclays Cash Card Account and Co-Operative Cashmider Account are the only Accounts that will take anyone unless you have a record of fraud. The Co-Operative bank appears to be the most flexible in terms of facilities ie DD/SO etc.

Thinkbanking, will also accept anyone regardless of who creditors are and is easy to open over the phone in a few minutes.
The account does have a 12.50 a month charge, maestro card and internet banking is now strting within the next month, which is where I have found the account lacking. Other than that I have been totally happy with it.
That would make a big difference to Think Banking Ang. Does that mean that you will be able to transfer the money from your salary account on the internet rather than having to phone them?
I would think so skippy. I am told it will be there before xmas. They are also changing the phone system so that if you are kept waiting and just hang up they will call you back immediately it reaches you in the queue.
I did address the phone wait with them. To be honest the most I have been kept waiting on the phone is about 8 mins, I must admit it is at the beginning of the month as the chap said they have probs as everyone is ringing up to make payments or changes. I can see that could happen. The internet should at least save that and the texting for the balances, though I find that handy as you can get the balance as and when you want, rather than needing a computer or a cashpoint. Other than that I am still happy as I have loads of dd's and they keep it all away from me and I know what I have all the time.
I will update about it when they bring it in. The charge is still 12.50 and I have added it to my expenditure and it was accepted.
That would make the account so much better. I only had the account for a month and I had to wait for 20 minutes to get through. I wasn't happy by the time I got through as I was paying for the call!
The other thing I think would improve it is to be able to get a balance from a cashpoint. The problem I had with the text messages was that when I texted to request a balance I was charged 10p - they didn't come out of my free messages and Vodafone classed it as a premium text. I know 10p isn't much, but when you're as obsessive about checking your bank account as I am it adds up!
thanks lovely people, this forum is so great for support.
i spoke to co op about cashminder and set it up- the girl did warn me that it will probably be froze when iva goes through though!! although she did backtrack and said maybe that was with bankruptcy- she didnt really seem to know but never mid hopfully have everything through quick so i can stop stressing about it
Dont worry Rochelle, youre amongst friends here on the forum. I know its a very stressful time, I nearly wept in the bank when I went in also. Your coop cashminder account wont be frozin in an IVA. I went into the branch and got my card just over a week later, you recieve a huge info pack and then your account no, card and pin number follow. It was sods law when she said 5 to 7 working days, one of them just had to be a bank holiday so I waited for two weekends.
You will be accepted, they always check for things like fraud and then its all sorted in a matter of days, so long as you have the correct ID.
Most of us have felt the same way, it does get better, a bit of a roller coaster ride to start with, if you start to panic about anything just post here, there will be someone to talk to.
I know it might not feel like it now but you are stronger than you think and you will get through this. They were very nice to me in the coop too. You just feel so un-together right now, right? Like someone has just smacked you so hard your head is on backwards and every now and again the fear and panic just reach intollerable levels. Facing the world is so hard at the moment, you feel like youre someone else, I had to check it was still me in the mirror at times.
So dont worry, have a damn good cry if you need to just remember, you laugh when youre happy dont you? Just remember to give yourself a good hug too, you deserve that.
I am sending you a virtual hug, hunny, you sound like you need one.
