Hello everbody.
Trying to find out if I can afford
to enter IVA. Can anyone let me know
what the allowances would be for a family
of 3. ie Food, Petrol, clothing & general
living expenses.
The CCCS guidelines recoomend between £239 and £392 for housekeeping, £31 and £56 for clothing, and a number of other general allowances to cover specific areas of household expenditure. Petrol ought to be based on what you actually spend, as each persons requirements will be different depending upon the distances that they actually travel.
If you would like a copy of the CCCS guidelines, please e-mail me to my website and we will send this on.
Somone from your office is contacting
me next week. My problem is my wage is
due to decrease my approx £250 a month
from January so I don't have any payslips
etc at the new amount yet.
just interested now what you think the allowance should be for a single person? Back in 2006, when I took out my IVA, the minimum food/grocery allowance was £120. I forgot to increase this on my year 1 review. I asked several people this year how much the average shopping bill had gone up by since 2006. The response was around 60% On my review, I put £180, and it was altered by my new IP to £140!
Sorry. I am no expert (been doing the IVA stuff for 4 days now), but the overall allowances you can have cover all sorts of things, such as hairdressing, dental, opticians, public transport, even a small amount for church/charity ...... my point being that each allowance may well be higher or lower than what you normally spend, but overall you can manage your own budget, within a 'reasonable' total ..... not sure it could ever be called generous, but it is not unreasonable ...... i guess there will be countless people who disagree, but i didnt mean to offend you if I have been exagerating ...
I just wish we both smoked and drank loads of beer ... so we could give them up and save loads, but we dont .....
Anyway I have only been on this forum for 3 days, and have been really touched by how supportive people have been ..... good luck with you situation ....
The CCCS guidelines, which are generally used by most insolvency practitioners, state between £96 and £195 per month. Personally I feel that the higher allowance is more realistic, and wonder why your own IP has reduced your expenditure by £40. You may like to enquire about this - giving reference to the guidelines.
Thanks! You may like to look at my other post tonight entitled "requesting a lump sum payment". I hve to admit that I am not overly impressed with my new IVA company.
