My Partner has just lost his job and although he is currently working it is only agency work therefore not reliable. I myself only earn a low wage and we are not only struggling with our current debts but also paying the rent and council tax. I'm not sure if an IVA is posible as the money we can pay out to our debts is not going to be a great deal.
Visit www.iva.com and select from a number of reviewers an appropriate firm of IP's to speak to after getting all your facts together to ascertain what you both owe and what your respective incomes are.

I recommend that you phone an Insolvency Practitioner as soon as possible. Visit www.iva.com for a list of reputable companies. You could also try Melanie Giles who posts on here and comes highly recommended or one of the Debt advisors such as Andy Davie or Viki W.
Their details can be found on the left hand side of the page under the experts link.
They will tell you all of your options, and advise as to the best way forward.

Hey s_1980, welcome to the forum, sorry about your partner's job. As Jan has said, speak to a professional who can go over all your options with you. Please keep posting. X
An IVA could be an option for you, but with uncertain income a short-term DMP might be a better option until you can find yourselves back on your feet again. Best to take professional advice as the other posters have already mentioned.
