Hi there,

I completed my IVA early so am now out of that and I have just recently looked at my credit report as i wanted to try and go from a basic bank account to a more "normal" one. Now I can see my IVA is recored as a start date of 10/09/2003 and so I believe that will disappear off the reports later this year?

However the credit cards/accounts etc all have varying different default dates with one defaulting as late as 7/03/2005 which is well within the IVA time bu I think this means it won't be cleared off my account until 2011 which is well beyond the 6 years I was expecting :-(

So is there any way to change this or will I not be able to change my bank account until 2011?

Hi Andy,

I think that you can write to the various creditors and ask them to remove the defaults from your record. They shouldn't go on after the IVA was approved.

Send your creditors and the credit agencies a copy of your Certificate of Compliance. That should help.

The completion of the IVA is recorded against the IVA on the credit report. I will do waht you recommend for the dreditors.

I don't mind the defaults, I made the mess up, I suffer the consequences. It's more having defaults on there 8 -> 9 years after I started the IVA.

Why 6 years though, never asked anyone but it seems an odd number [:D]

I don't know where the figures come from andy.

It's six years for everything, good and bad.

To be on the safe side, I suggest you look at your credit file from all agencies just to 'admend the past behind'. Equafax,Credit Call as well as Experian will hold information about you and lenders can use one or the other in looking at your history.Experian tends to THE agency. These agencies are separate entities.
