Had the call this afternoon confirming that our new mortgage with HSBC had been approved. Has us worried for a while as the underwriters found that my IVA had not quite been completed 1 year. That has now been solved as it was 1 year yesterday and they now dont have any problems with us. So would like to go on record and say thank you to HSBC when every other bank has turned us down. Its strange looking at reaching the big 40 next week. I should in a way be feeling down in the dumps but instead I feel great the future has not looked so good in a long time.
I hope that everyone on this great forum managed to get their problems sorted out. Whatever happens dont give up hope. Two years ago I owed over £90000.00 of debt and now my life has turned around for the better . I have a second chance. It might be a long journey ahead of you but it will be worth it.

Your settlement for the IVA based on your share of the mortgage from what I recall, that's a bit of money you have forsaken. Not a lot of people will have the EQ to settle, you are lucky, but your home is technically your wifes's -A trade off.

Hello I am Mrs Whichwaynow, all our circumstances are different. My husband may have used all his equity, and the house may belong to me but I don't see it like that. My husband and I work as a team, he goes out to work to pay for the mortgage and we both contribute to other expenses. If anyone is in a situation where they are keeping debt from a partner, please tell them before it gets out of control. I thank everyone for the support you have given us over the past months.

Congratulations Mr & Mrs whichwaynow. You have shown that working as a couple you can get throught this - well done.

I'm in a similar positon whereas its hubby who was in the IVA and now BR, but I certainly do not consider he's in it alone. We are a team, thats what being part of a couple is about. Hopefully, in a few years time we'll be a winning team like you [:D]

Kalla - I disagree with your comments of it being a trade off - this couple found a solution that worked for them. Others find different solutions and if it works for the individuals , well thats a result in my book.

Congratulations again and please keep posting, your experience and advice will help others.

xx

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Whichwaynow, I'm so glad it's worked out for you and I hope you'll keep posting.

Kalla, it's a shame you have to try and put a dampener on other people's good news. As Julie says, they have found a solution that suits them, the same as Julie and hubby and my OH and I - he owns our house, but I still consider it my home. Just because you don't agree with it doesn't make it wrong.

I totally agree Skippy.....I wonder how many IVA's, BR etc are done with only one part of the couple....if you know what I mean??

I've just caught up with this again, and I totally agree.

Kalla should not be knocking what has worked for someone else and 'damping down' their celebrations.

I Don't want to spoilt the party.....yes a couples success in overcoming the debt in IVA I am in agreement.

The headline feat here is getting new borrowing....and at a good rate which is not currently the norm..... with the wife's good credit acting as almost the bond!

If this was a film....the wife is the 'heroine' in the portrayal. The husband is reprieved in the IVA scheme like all on an IVA. The IVA legislation the unscripted star!

I am interested in the story here as in history....everyone plays their bit in enacting the story...there are circumstances which underscore the happy ending like a good script

It actually doesn't matter how they have managed to get the mortgage, the fact is that they have.

There are no hero's or heroines in this situation, it is real life, they are a couple and things have worked out for them.

The thread has now run it's course and I am locking it.
